YAY! Not only did they clinch the division, they did it earlier than any other team has done it in the past. After their game against the Yankees they sat in the clubhouse and watched the Mariners/Rangers game, while the fans watched it on the Jumbotron; I think it was the 6th inning. The last inning of that game was broadcast live on MSN West, and when it was over the Angels ran back onto the field to celebrate with the fans who had stayed to watch. Lots of jumping around and hooting and hollering, beer being dumped on teammates’ heads, and then someone, maybe Santana, got a hose from the field crew and hosed down the team and the fans. It was great.
I guess Sciosa knows the standings now.
Ok, I think I ranted about this last year, but DAMN!
Now, I realize that this is a business and MLB can market these “special” shirts and make money, although I do not entirely agree that the organization needs to make money, but RED is our color. The Angels wear RED. I guess they chose gray because it’s not a color used by any team and they could make these up waaaay in advance and just slap the team logo on at the last minute, but gray.
Gray. How depressing.
They made the team put these on over their nice red shirts for the celebration in the clubhouse, after the team had partied on the field and before they opened the champagne.
The hat is marginally better. Marginally.
