My aunt used to say that about leftovers. This artichoke was about to bloom… or so we thought. The weather has been warm recently and artichokes are big heat-sensitive thistles. It turns out that we picked it a little too soon, but it tasted great. I wonder how big it would have been if we’d left it on the plant.
The glass is six inches tall. Impressive until you realize that they are at their cheapest in the stores right now, and would probably cost about $1 for one this size. There are a lot more on the stem so I probably will eat a dozen or more this spring, for the price of water for the year. The other plant is starting to produce now, too.
Is there such a thing as too many artichokes?
